I sure am glad I had that new steamy iron to help tame all that backing fabric!
I'm also glad we have those extra leaves for in the dining room table.
Luna was disappointed that she didn't get to lay on the quilt... so she laid as close to it as she possibly could which meant I had to step over her every time I went around to that side of the table.
So its finally all basted...
and in the hoop...
Now all I have to do is convince the cats that it is not a nesty-tree and get it quilted before FlyBoy goes off to college. He's 11.
I used to hate binding, but I came across an awesome tutorial that uses bias tape. http://hartcottagequilts.com/binding
I've employed using the backing folded over as the binding, and it works marvelously, although I know most people who do this work backwards and use the front as the binding. It's kind of tricky because I haven't figured out how to get the mitered corners, but it's something to strive for!

My 15 year old's first year quilt is still sitting around, basted but not quilted, as is the 10 year old's 2 year old quilt (see a pattern?). I just figured out how I'm going to finish nephew #2's Christmas quilt, and may yet get that done this month. That would be a milestone. And I hate binding.
You, no doubt, will whip it out efficiently and go on to knit some more. I have three baby sweaters to finish. . . homeschooling just two takes as much time as four, I've found.
