So after our curly paper hearts the other day we moved on to melted crayon sun-catchers.
Not that there's been a lot of sun to catch but the little splash of color certainly helps.
Just use an iron to melt some crayon bits between 2 sheets of wax paper. You'll want to put a few sheets of newspaper under and over the wax paper to keep your ironing board and your iron clean. Let the melted paper and wax sandwich cool and trace out shapes... hearts are our favorite. Done!
I keep trying to remember all the simple little crafts I did as a kid. I would spend hours at my Nana's kitchen table making things and being busy and quiet and there was never a trip to a craft store... we just used things from around the house. It seems these are always the crafts that go so well for my kids now... simple and not overly time consuming or stressful and always open to so much creativity.
Here's some other ideas for using crayon bits...
Use crayons to make more crayons!
Same wax paper... used to make stained glass-ish sun-catchers.
