Ya know I always have good intentions of keeping the blog up to date and spitting out a new knit design every few weeks but really whoever said the road to hell is paved with good intentions wasn't kidding.
At the end of each day I look back and try to figure out what the heck I did all day because it seems to me that I never get to the one or 2 things I really wanted to get to. Maybe after all these years of motherhood and marital bliss I should no longer be surprised about this lack of daily accomplishment but every day I am still left to wonder.
So far today I have...
-Successfully gotten the kids dressed, fed, and off to school (ditto for Mac Daddy).
-Gone to town for a few groceries, brought them home, sorted everything, and put it all away.
-Stopped at the Cheap Crap store for a throw rug to put on the wood floor in front of the front door. Now that the weather is wet most of the time Tucker does a poor impression of a figure skater ever time he comes inside. I still can't figure out how a creature that walks on 4 legs can be so clumsy (even when the floor isn't wet).
-Fed and water all the creatures (dog, cats, kittens, goats, sheep, chickens, geese).
-There is laundry in the washer and the dryer (and on the floor).
-Returned 2 phone calls.
-Unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher.
-Today is Doodle's 14th Bday so I'm making all her favorites.. tacos for dinner (meat is already cooked and drained so it can be warmed quickly for dinner) and chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting. Cupcakes and frosting are a la Martha's cupcake book and since I have a pile of overripe bananas lying here I may as well do up some banana pecan cupcakes too. Recipe reviews to follow at some point.
Now, none of the above includes knitting or sewing or even sketching and figuring and since I'm smack in the middle of the cupcake production (I'm intently listening for the oven timer to go off) and the kitchen is a bit of a mess and its raining and its not even lunch time I kinda doubt I'll get around to any. By the time this is all cooled and frosted and cleaned up the crew will be home with papers to sign and worksheets to finish and then it'll be time for the tacos.
Just one more day of getting "nothing" done. But I bet the cupcakes will be scrumptious. And at least the spiders on the windows are plastic so Mac Daddy can relax, too.
It seems like I just barely get everyone out the door, do a bit of laundry and think about dinner and BAM, school day's over. When I hear moms with a first-time kindergartener anticipating all that free time, I have a quiet little chuckle to myself.
I hope your kids are settling in well to the whole school thing. I can imagine there would be good and bad.

Progress is progress!
This weekend (Saturday or Sunday--can't remember which) is national Chocolate Cupcake day. I'm just saying....;-)
