Well, I finally caved on the video game thing. Partly because it was Father's Day and partly because I have long weeks of summer and kids and visiting kids and bored kids. I caved and we got a Wii.
Now don't think for a minute that my kids have never had a video game because let me tell ya video games have been a part of life for a long time. But I have been pretty stingy about what we've owned and what they were allowed to play and for how long. Call me mean.
It was the same this time around... no blood, no guts, no guns.
Rabbit stomping is okay. Rabbits singing along to Britney in a junk yard seems fitting. Clay shooting is fine and cross bows are nifty. I hear there's yoga.
Mac Daddy making like Metallica with that way cool gee-tar is a blast. I've been told I have a permanent back stage pass.
The best was that the entire time they hooked up cables and figured out all the stuff and ran crazy through every game "just one more time" was that I was sitt'in on my butt on the sofa... knitting. Woohoo!
Now... I gotta go because I hear there's some sort of tournament going on in my living room and they're saving me a seat. I need to cruise through the kitchen and grab another cup of coffee, grab my needles on my way past my table, and get a good seat.
Who's winning?

Can't say you are a meanie because I controll what is played, when and how long. Why they ask, because kids get fixated on th edarn things and forget their names, or to feed their pet, go to bed, do homework, for get their names, and oh yeah, did I mention, forget their names?!?!? Mine got his Gameboy to occupy him on long plane trips alone, the DS so he could play with his friends and the family got the Cube to play together, but it is the dust collector! Oh well, glad my boys love to play outside on the SS Splinter (aka the playset).

I recommend Mario Kart and Carnival Games (both the original and Mini Golf). LOTS of fun, and both qualify under your rules (other than the shooting gallery in Carnival Games, in the interest of full disclosure). Also, the Lego games are brilliant - Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Batman (a couple of guns in those, though, just FYI)

Our TV is too old to support any gaming system. Problem solved! Ha ha!

Welcome to the Cult.
And at least with Wii, there is some action involving more than just thumbs.
Great for rainy days!
