Ya know that Sweet Baby hat that's all over the place? It really is sweet and so simple with it's clever shaping.
I've often thought I'd make one or 2 or 10 as baby gifts someday but the other day I decided to just whip one up.
I wanted to make it bigger than a baby hat so I just cast on with some stash yarn ( 2 strands of alpaca DK weight) and knit away. No gauge swatch, no stress. I figured whatever I got would be fine. It was something to knit somewhat mindlessly in the midst of everything else I'm working on right now.
It did turn out a good bit bigger than it needs to be but really, its Sweet anyway. It turned out so cute that all the kids have requested one. I think I'll try the next one in a worsted weight single ply wool and do less of the shaping at the front section so it isn't so pointy but other than that I think its gonna become a favorite among the crew. Its definitely warm and everyone likes the way it covers the cold-prone ears.
I can also see fiddling with this shaping and putting some textures or cables in between the inc/dec points.
Oh, so funny! Thanks for the laugh! It is a cute hat. Mine are often too big, as well!
