and an entire summer flew by.
The house is listed for sale and we’re still house hunting. Seems we picked one of the worst times in history to sell a house. Besides that the area we want to move to isn’t exactly a bustling real estate area. This could take a while.
In the meantime we spent a lot of the summer up home anyway. We drove up every week to participate in 4H and to just hang out with the family (and look for houses). The kids had a great time at 4H and did lots of fun projects including rocketry and clay sculpting. Quite a few of the moms there are also homeschoolers so we all had a lot to talk about and exchanged some ideas.
The Little Guy had a “minor” surgery. Nothing too scary and he’s fine now but whoever coined the phrase “minor surgery” certainly wasn’t a mother.
We’ve officially started our school year and are falling into the day to day feel of it all. My main goal for this year is to stress less and enjoy more. (I’ve been thinking about adding a section to my sidebar with links and info for some of my favorite homeschooling materials.)
I always look forward to fall for so many reasons. Football, school starting, and the promise of crispy fall days at the lake. But it also seems that I always feel a bit melancholy once the time finally arrives. Another summer has flown by and all too soon we’ll be complaining about heating bills and looking for last year’s snow-boots to pass to a younger sibling. Somewhere in there is a contentment that’s still just a tiny bit out of reach.
One good thing is that all this knitting and wool will really have a purpose... ya know... keeping somebody warm. I seriously can’t imagine living somewhere thats so warm all year that there is no necessity for wool and hats and mittens. Granted its not like Central Pa is the blizzard capital of the world or anything but there are a few weeks each year that make us very thankful for thick, dense wooly items. Knitting all summer is still fun but I just feel so much more motivated when the weather starts to cool a bit.
I’ve got a few projects OTN and have finally been able to dedicate some evening hours to them. Some of them are knit with a great new wool yarn thats completely hand-spun and naturally dyed with plant dyes!
I’ll be around more and post pictures soon. Of course with the day to day wonder of house selling and buying anything could happen.
Ok, rub it in....here in Arizona, we wool-lovers are heavy into charity knitting. But there is felting....
Glad you enjoyed your break and glad we get to enjoy your adventures yet again! Sending good house-selling and -buying karma over your way...
