and I’m pretty sure its my fault.
Not that I think I’m so powerful or important that I can directly change the weather but rather I’m pretty sure I angered the knitting gods and they have dropped a not-so-subtle hint on me (in the form of snow).
See, I’ve been happily knitting along on the cabled alpaca deal and was rather pleased right up until I saw all the new spring yarns at the LYS. Cottons, cotton blends, hemp, linen and silk....
...and I started thinking about all those lovely colors....
...and suddenly I went from a state of contentment with my knitting to full blown yarn lust and cabin fever. Visions of light cardis and tank tops...crisp cotton...smooth silk...spring breezes blowing....birds chirping...( I hope you're having a real Hallmark moment here because I was)
But what to do with the current WIP? Set it aside? Move on to something new and intriguing? I mean really, til I finish it won’t it be too warm for a heavy cabled sweater? Couldn’t I just save it for autumn?
My indecision brought a complete halt to all knitting for about 24 hours. If I couldn’t decide what to knit...I wouldn’t knit anything at all.
I do believe this is where the knitting gods gave me a kick because if there’s anything at all I’m sure of its that if I had set this current cabled delight aside it would have been lost and gone forever and round about October I’d have been kicking myself royally.
So it snowed. Its still snowing. Several events for today have been canceled including a class at the LYS tonight.
So let’s analyze this situation...
- If I can’t go to the LYS tonight...I can’t buy the spring yarn.
- If I don’t have activities to run the kids to today...I have extra time to knit.
- If its snowing...I still have need for a warm cabled alpaca sweater.
The message has been received loud and clear. There is no more indecision here.

Thanks for making me laugh! Those knit gods are powerful.

I believe you completely! I am about to start a couple of cabled sweaters that I've been wanting to knit. I no sooner pull the yarn out than the weather shoots into the 80s. It's amazing the power we hold at our fingertips!
