So Zib has this great idea that we should all show off our yarn. Now I’m not above showing all of you but did Zib really take into account the repercussions this could bring? I mean, when the Knitty boards go all quiet will she realize its because knitters across the globe have been beaten into submission by their very angry spouses? Will she feel pity for the ones cowering in the corner because they are afraid to face the family? What about the ones who will have to admit that THIS is the reason we’ve all been eating Ramen noodles and generic Mac-n-Cheez?
Oh, who am I kidding? My hubby knows about all this (well, most of it) and he doesn’t complain because it keeps me home.
This may take a little while and will be photo intensive. I’m not going to get all artsy-fartsy simply because I don’t want to spend that much time digging it all out just to have to put it all away. Besides, I do have kids to feed, even if all they get is generic Mac-n-Cheez.
Here’s where I work. School work and design work. You see that big white cabinet? That’s where I stash the good stuff. The shelf beside it is packed with my knitting books and the colored bins are usually WIPs. The storage bins on top are full, too, mostly bulky yarns. I know there’s some King Kardiff, some chenille, and some super-bulky wool.

Long forgotten project, wool.
Here’s something that just came in the mail. I haven’t felted anything yet honestly because the thought of purposefully putting wool in the washing machine just gives me the willies but I have seen some really cute felted stuff. I got this to play with and give felting a try.
Now, let’s look in the cabinet....
Top shelf stuff....Silkroad, Frog Tree, Blue Sky Cotton, more Katia Austral, and some Artful Yarns stuff.
Debbie Bliss cotton/silk, Peruvian Highland Wool (from Elann), and some Cotton Fine.

This is the “mostly cotton” shelf. Assorted cottons as well as some blends. Everything from Debbie Bliss cotton/wool to Patons Grace. Some Mission Falls 1824 Cotton (when it was still the real thing) and some Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece.

The wooly shelf. Lopi, Dale, Philosopher’s, Jamieson and Smith, Zephyr (I’m hoping this will be a shawl for my mother-in-law by the holidays), and some Koigu KPM.
Stuffed in a drawer...Wool in the Woods (assorted), Great Adirondack, Linen, Whisper, etc...

This is The Grave Yard. This is where yarns that have bored me, pissed me off, or just weren’t all that fun have gone to probably live out the rest of their days. Why don’t I just get rid of it? Well, just in case.

Now, hold on to your hats and give me a minute to explain this next one because it contains acryl...., acryl....acryl....oh I just can’t use that word. Its THAT STUFF. I only have it because I refuse to let the kids ransack my silk blends in order to put fuzzy yarn hair on a sock puppet. This is their do-what-you-want-with-it stash. Cat toys, GI Joe rock climbing harnesses, tow cables for the model space shuttle, and their random, short-lived attempts at knitting. Notice I keep it in a dark, dusty corner where no one will see it.

Ok, you’ve seen the worst of the stash in the house. Now lets go outside and see what we find. Yea, outside!
See! It really does grow on trees!
